Yes, we know, it’s awful Swiss of us to recommend busting out your calendars and scheduling in summer fun (UGH), but that’s just how excited we are about all the programmes that have recently been released!! We’ve compiled them all for you in this one, handy-dandy post. Here’s the breakdown of what to expect this summer in Geneva.
If you’ve walked down to Bains des Pâquis lately, you’ve probably already noticed L’escale on the Quai de Mont Blanc. You have two more weeks, until 24 July, to enjoy this space, which has been set up with a bar and a musical programme with DJs and concerts, a giant chessboard, and even film screenings. For the complete programme of upcoming events at L’escale, click here!
Musiques en été
Fête de la musique might be just a memory at this point, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get any more sweet sounds of summer. The city of Geneva has an enticing programme for this year’s Musiques en été, including our favorite free concerts at Scène Ella Fitzgerald at Eaux-Vive’s Parc La Grange. You have until 19 August to enjoy the summer tunes!
Early birds (and party animals ), there’s something for you, too: from the 23 July to 22 August, Bains des Pâquis will be playing host to the annual Aubes musicales, a summer concert series where you can listen to live music from a range of different genres while watching the sun rise over the Alps. Surreal.
Everyone’s favorite (and free) outdoor cinema series is back! Set to start this week from the 14 July with the film Fame at the fantastic setting of Parc de la Perle du Lac, you can expect more than a month of fabulous films every Thursday — Sunday night (like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on Sunday 21 August), including themed soirées on Saturday nights (Bollywood dance party, anyone?).
A la Point
It took me a while to discover A la Pointe, the small buvette located at Pointe de la Jonction, so to me it feels a bit like a well-kept summer secret around here (although judging by the number of people there this past weekend…it’s not!). Located at the tip of land where the Rhône and the Arve rivers meet, Pointe de la Jonction is home to a summer refreshment stand and weekend programme of live acts and DJs (as well as yoga on Tuesday late afternoons and other activities on Wednesdays) offered up by l’Association pour la Reconversion des Vernets (ARV). Follow their Facebook page A la pointe to get updates on their weekly programme or simply click below for an overview.
